Project Firefly - Emerging Leaders Essay Competition
Credit Suisse is the proud founding sponsor of an independent, academic, thought leadership platform Project Firefly with an Emerging Leaders Essay Competition.The essay competition relates to four specific economic/financial markets focused questions (see below) with a submission deadline of February 19, 2012. Three winners will be selected and invited to attend the Credit Suisse Asian Investment Conference, all expenses paid, in Hong Kong on March 19-23, 2012. Questions asked in this year's competition:
1. Is monetary policy alone enough to stimulate economic recovery?
2. Is it inevitable that, the Renminbi will become the next reserve currency? Would this development be in China’s interests? What circumstances need to be in place for this to happen?
3. How will the outcome of the 2012 US presidential election affect priorities in US foreign policy?
4. Is local municipal government debt a serious threat to the Chinese state?
Students can submit essays though the Project Firefly website and after review by a board of 15 professors from across the globe the best essays will be published on the website and the three winners will be subsequently be selected. Submissions are open to any undergraduates, masters or PhD students globally and essays will be assessed blind to ensure that truly the best content is recognised.
