Meet The Team

What advice would you give to an aspiring businesswoman?

Find what you're passionate about, and follow through with it. Everyone's career journey will be different, and it's okay to take the time to figure out what you truly want to do, because loving the work that you do will ultimately contribute to your happiness! You’re going to be working 50 years of your life – might as well enjoy it.

When growing up, we’re told to take up every opportunity and to “lean in”. However, sometimes that isn’t enough. Capital W’s message encourages the development of a support network that enables women to not only lean in but to also to pay it forward. This allows us to not only empower ourselves but our next generation of female peers and leaders.

Why does Capital W's message resonate with you

What advice would you give your 16 year old self?

There may not seem to be a clear goal in life but contest the ambiguity and enjoy the journey. Don't hesitate to take opportunities, and don't hold yourself back.

To be honest, I once dreamt of being an author! I really love books and writing. But I think what I realised I liked about those things was the ability of words and art to move, touch and inspire people all around the world. I hope whatever job I end up doing, I can still inspire others in my own way.

Where is your dream destinaton?

I would love to visit France! A few years ago I visited Paris but fell ill and sadly remained in my hotel room the whole time. If I had the opportunity to visit again, I would love to visit as many museums and art galleries as possible!

Resilience, teamwork, dedication and attention to detail just to name a few. It's empowering to be surrounded by and to work with motivated and ambitious young women and it's through our collective commitment and consistent planning that we're able to pull off some amazing initiatives and continue to support women in business.

What values has Capital W instilled in you?

One thing most people don't know about me is that I love country music and it's pretty much all I listen to. Most of my friends have described this as "off brand".

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

How has Capital W helped you to develop as a woman in business?

Being a part of Capital W has helped develop my confidence in the workplace, and made me realise that it is so important for females to have role models and representation in the corporate world. Having had experience working in a workplace that is 80% male, I am constantly striving to support other women so that we can achieve gender parity.

Capital W has taught me the importance of collective effort. We as women are stronger together and able to achieve greater outcomes when advocating for equality.

How would you like the make the world a better place?

Recognising the power and influence of words and actions, I would like to make the world a better place through my interactions with people. I always try to treat others with kindness and fairness and think about how I can impact others in a meaningful way.

I aspired to become an entrepreneur. I originally wanted to lead a toy company. Then, I wanted to become a scientist-entrepreneur who specialised in medicine (I made “healing potions” out of random skincare products in my bathroom) and robotics (I made “robots” out of cardboard boxes).

What are some bucket list items you have?

I would love to try hot air ballooning over Cappadocia, Turkey and scuba diving in Red Sea, Egypt! The iconic hot air balloon landscape would be absolutely breathtaking to see in person and I want to see the stunning reefs in Egypt.

What has been the most rewarding Capital W event and why?

The Annual Dinner. It was an incredible memory and I remember gaining so much knowledge and industry insights at the event. I was able to ask questions, network with professionals, and meet like-minded students who were also passionate about the business industry. After the event, I became more confident and reassured in pursuing my career in this field.

I would have definitely considered myself an early bird prior to this quarantine as early morning always make me feel refreshed and energised. Although after multiple months of watching The Vampire Diaries past 12 am is slowly pushing me to the other side!

Are you an early bird or night owl?

What’s the best advice you were ever given?

The best advice I was given is to never stop learning. Knowledge is wisdom and the more we learn, the more we are able to live our lives to the fullest.

New York! I’d love to live there some day in the houses with fire stairs. The fast-paced environment is exhilarating, and it feels amazing standing in Time Square at night as people walk past. It really lives up to the City That Never Sleeps.

The team! My experience with Capital W has been nothing short of rewarding and I owe it to the amazing women that I work alongside. As a subcommittee member last year, I was so inspired by the drive and integrity everyone in the team demonstrated whether it was at our many (virtual) events or simply in our team catch ups. As a director this year I look forward to building on our passionate and dedicated team culture.

What motivates you as a member of Capital W?

Italy! And either Milan or Rome if I had to narrow it down- maybe even Venice or Sicily. Art and fashion have always been my passion and I love travelling in historical locations of significant cultural influence.

Where is your dream destinaton?

Capital W has definitely enhanced my skills in communication, organization, and collaboration. As Co-Director, you are definitely stepping up to a leadership role from Day 1, so the society's culture of excellence, along with its vision for female career development, has empowered me to hone my abilities in those areas and discover what I am really capable of.

What skills has Capital W provided you with?

Who is your inspiration?

My inspiration is the people I surround myself with. I am constantly amazed at what my friends achieve! They inspire me to work harder, have fun and strive to be a better person. I guess I am inspired by ordinary people doing the best they can! 😊

What motivates you as a member of Capital W?

What motivates me most as a member of Capital W is the like-minded and hard-working network of women that I get to work with and the unique opportunity we have to bring value to both our sponsor companies and the broader Capital W community. It’s definitely a great feeling to see the team pull off an event seamlessly and know that both the sponsors and students took something away from it.

How would you like the make the world a better place?

Mahatma Ghandi’s wise words, “Be the change you wish to see in the world” have inspired me ever since I was young. I would love to start my own charity one day, providing education and opportunities to girls in countries like Cambodia that I’ve had the experience of teaching in.

Dance!! I used to dance quite a bit when I was in primary school and would love to get back into it! Not too sure which style I would go for again but definitely open to taking lessons again with friends :)

What is one hobby you would love to get into?

I’ve always loved history and learning about the cultures, people and events that have shaped our world today. The stories of the past, whether tragic, magnificent or both, have taught me to appreciate what we have achieved and have given me hope for the legacy that we leave behind.

The endless opportunities! I've been able to participate in a mentoring program, organise large and small scale events (my favourite's our philanthropic initiatives), attend various networking events ranging from formal to social based, and talk to people from a range of industries and roles, meeting CEO's to recent graduates - there's always something I've learnt from these conversations and they're invaluable!

What motivates you as a member of Capital W?

Who is your favourite business woman and why?

Rihanna. She gained immense fame from singing, and has, since 2018, diversified her portfolio in establishing Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty. Both are worth approximately $1 Billion each with revenue growth of 200%. She is a pioneer in makeup for all skin tones and including male and female plus size models, sparking an industry-wide shift to increased inclusivity.
