International Women's Day Breakfast

Capital W, Women in Business (WIB), Network of Women (NOW) and Women Entering Business (WEB) join together in unity for a breakfast event in celebration of International Women’s Day. The event features a guest panel session followed by a networking session with our sponsors. The breakfast offers a unique opportunity to build lasting connections with an array of industry professionals and students across the three contributing universities of UNSW, UTS, USYD and MQU.

Annual Dinner

Where:

Capital W’s flagship event grants students the intimate opportunity to interact with representatives from various sponsor firms. The night opens with a networking session over canapés and drinks, followed by the main course and dessert over two sponsor rotations based on attendees’ preference. Attendees will be inspired by our keynote speaker, and have the opportunity to win valuable sponsor prizes exclusive to attendees of the Annual Dinner. Attendees will leave with deeper industry connections, a gift bag and a feeling of empowerment as we further the voices of women in the workplace.

Beyond Mentoring Program

At Capital W, we believe that mentorship is valuable and rewarding experience for all involved. We also believe that it should be more than a one-off coffee catch-up. As such, we have developed a program with facilitated group events to help foster the mentorship relationship both in a one-on-one and group environment. We are not only investing in tomorrow’s business women. We are connecting them with today’s leaders in business.

Women in Consulting

in collaboration with UCC

July 6th 2021

The Women in Consulting Event, held in conjunction with UNSW Consulting Club (UCC), is a part of a joint initiative to encourage students to pursue a career in consulting and building practical skills for consulting competitions and case interviews. Students from a variety of skills and backgrounds work in teams alongside sponsor representatives to solve a problem in a case-crack session. The event helps improve their case-analysis, problem solving and presentation skills.

Diversity in Finance

Students from a variety of backgrounds, focused on STEM, participate in this event, held in conjunction with the University Network of Investment and Trading (UNIT), in order to provide networking opportunities and inspire students to pursue a role in non-traditional areas of in finance. Students are invited to engage in roundtable discussion with sponsor representatives followed networking session to learn more about the value of quantitative background in business.

High School Workshop

6th April 2021

Capital W’s High School Workshop is a unique event that aims to provide high school students with the opportunity to mingle with university students and corporate representatives from a few of our sponsor companies. The workshop includes students working in teams to solve a case mentored by both Capital W team members and sponsor representatives. Through this workshop, high school students interested in Commerce will gain insights into the corporate world and build their soft skills through the networking opportunities.

Internship Applications Workshop

4th June 2020

Capital W’s annual Internship Applications Workshop allows members to rotate through sponsor facilitated round-tables dedicated to excelling in different stages of the internship application process; this includes CV screening, mock interviews and assessment centers. Students attending are able to meet and network with a range of sponsor organisations in an intimate setting and learn how to approach and tackle every crucial stage of the internship application process.

The event will begin with a quick introduction to Capital W and our wonderful sister-like culture before moving on to some games. We also have a Q&A session at the end to answer any burning questions you may have about our Subcommittee Recruitment, tips on surviving uni, or where the best food on campus is.

Keeping up with Alumni is an event which will feature a panel discussion focusing on the alumni’s university experiences, from their time at Capital W and during the internship and job recruitment process, to their transition into the workforce. As a bonus, students will be given the opportunity to submit a creative question for the panel through our registration form for a chance to win an exclusive career consult session and a Business School drink bottle.

Yoga & Draw

28th July 2020

Capital W’s latest social initiative, in collaboration with UNSW Yoga Club, is aimed at supporting members during the stressful time leading up to exams. The exercises are focused on improving students’ wellbeing and life balance, and are split into two parts; calming yoga guided by a qualified instructor and a mindful-enhancing colouring session. These activities have proven to engage both sides of the brain for a soothing experience.
